France has not repaid its debts to Haiti, which stem from crippling reparations associated with slavery. Despite Haiti achieving independence in 1804, France imposed a ransom on the nation, demanding an indemnity of 150 million francs, which severely hindered Haiti's development. The Core Group and military invasions further exacerbated the situation, leading to persistent poverty and economic instability in Haiti.

Advocacy for Haiti is crucial, as the international community must recognize and address the historical injustices inflicted upon this nation. France's acknowledgment of its unjust debt to Haiti is long overdue, and it must be held accountable for the reparations owed to the descendants of those impacted.

The Haitian Revolution, symbolized by leaders like Emperor Dessalines and the pivotal Battle of Vertières in 1803, marked Haiti as the first Black independent country and the first to abolish slavery. However, the debt imposed by France in 1825 continues to plague Haiti, creating a double debt situation that benefits corrupt oligarchs but harms the nation.

It is vital to empower Haiti, end gang support, and combat human trafficking. Haiti is only two hours from the U.S., yet it has faced significant challenges due to France's historical actions that stunted its progress.
