The mulatto private business sector in Haiti appears to play a significant role in the ongoing instability by financially supporting gangs involved in organ trafficking and drug smuggling. Recently, a gang leader known as "Lanmò Sanjou" disclosed critical information related to these issues.

Understanding Organ Trafficking

Organ trafficking is defined as the illegal trade of human organs, which may involve the removal of organs or tissues from living individuals for transplantation. This unlawful practice is predominantly driven by profit motives and often occurs outside recognized national medical frameworks. The global demand for viable human organs for transplantation is increasing, significantly outpacing the number of available organs.

Cases of Organ Trafficking in Haiti

In Port-au-Prince, numerous families of victims have reported mysterious disappearances, with many individuals going missing without any ransom demands. Their relatives often struggle to locate the bodies of the disappeared.

In May 2024, the Haitian National Police (PNH) discovered two bodies and dismembered organs in a residence in Pernier. According to a report by Le Nouvelliste published on May 21, 2024, a suspect was apprehended in connection with the extraction and preservation of the organs found in containers at the site.

Lack of Action from Judicial Authorities

Despite extensive media coverage and denunciations from various stakeholders regarding the organ trafficking phenomenon, there has been a conspicuous lack of response from judicial authorities. Their silence may be interpreted as complicity, with little initiative taken to pursue thorough investigations into these serious violations.

Organ Traffickers and the Benefactors of Disorder in Haiti

Haitian influencer Janmsotba asserts that this situation underscores the complicity of the Haitian bourgeoisie, particularly the APAID family, in employing local gang leaders to facilitate organ trafficking. It is alleged that individuals are abducted based on recommendations from the mulatto private sector, with vital organs, such as hearts, livers, and kidneys, subsequently sold at exorbitant prices on the international market. Janmsotba claims that "Lanmò Sanjou" had established arrangements with the head of the APAID family, who, after a breakdown in negotiations, turned against him and began to reveal information that is usually kept confidential in Haiti.

The Haitian justice system now faces significant challenges ahead.
