Open Letter to the President of the United States, Donald Trump:
Dear Mr. President,
I want to express my admiration for your leadership and urge your support in helping Haiti navigate its ongoing crisis—a struggle that has persisted since our Independence in 1804.
Many Haitians acknowledge the challenges they face with immigration, but appreciate your administration's efforts to address corruption in Haiti, particularly with the ongoing investigations into the assassination of former President Jovenel Moise. While there are mixed opinions about Moise, it's clear that corrupted oligarchic families have hindered the country's progress, manipulating leadership for their gain.
I implore you to demonstrate courage and solidarity in pursuing justice for Moise's assassination, which could lead to a second independence for Haiti—one rooted in international cooperation and fairness. As neighbors, the U.S. has a responsibility toward us, especially given our historical ties.
Haitians long for peace, access to clean water, and rejuvenation of our youth and economy. Please help us address the presence of international criminals in our country. Although this letter may not reach you, I hope it influences your administration positively.
Our aspiration is for Haiti to achieve its second freedom: the freedom of the mind.
Long live history! Long live America! May Haiti find autonomy in education, justice, and security.
Respectfully,
Wilsonn Telimo Lwi,
