As members of the Haitian community in the diaspora, we are committed to endorsing a candidate who will champion our interests. We have outlined our priorities for the advancement of both the United States and Haiti, which we believe are crucial for our diaspora's progress. We met on September 29, 2024, to discuss our expectations for the endorsed candidate.
We are seeking resources to pursue justice for our late president, Jovenel Moise, and other citizens who tragically fell victim to murder and financial crimes in Haiti. We hope for a resolution to this matter within the administration's first six months to two years.
We also ask for support from the administration to provide specialized education for all Haitians arriving in the United States, helping them become proficient in reading and writing in Haitian Creole and English. Financial support through a full-time minimum wage should be accessible for at least six months to facilitate this transition.
Additionally, we request resources to evaluate the credentials of Haitian professionals at no cost, ensuring their ability to pursue further education in the United States during the administration's first year. This initiative will empower Haitian professionals to advance their careers without being forced into unsuitable employment, mitigating stigmatization and discrimination and fostering integration.
During the first two years elected, we invite the administration to review immigration laws to establish pathways for Haitians to reside in the United States without fear of exploitation or deportation. This policy will prevent the exploitation of marriages between US citizens and immigrants, fostering more robust and authentic family bonds.
Lastly, during the four-year presidential term, we request a solid partnership between Haiti and the United States to advance educational development in Haiti. This partnership holds the potential to create a brighter future, particularly in developing educational materials in Haitian Creole.
A philanthropic approach for the betterment of society,
Wilson Thelimo Louis.
